"Deer Trail Cabins" are located within the Carter Bay properties, on the south end of Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada. Out location offers the best of both worlds: peace and quiet in a pristine wilderness setting within a 10 minute drive from full service amenities such as grocery and hardware stores, a pharmacy and hospital. Our office is located just inside the main entrance road into Carter Bay.

Getting there... By car

There is a year round access to the island via the swing bridge in Little Current.
This is a northern access point to the island.

Use the following directions to locate Carter Bay:
* Take Hwy 17 to Hwy 6 at Espanola
* On Hwy 6, drive through Espanola and continue south on Hwy 6 to
Little Current
* Cross the bridge at Little Current and follow Hwy 6 south to Hwy 542
(approx. half hour)
* Turn right onto Hwy 542 and take the second left onto Hwy 542A
* Turn left at intersection in Tehkummah
* Take first right onto Government Road and continue to Carter Bay
(approx. 10 km)

Getting there... By ferry

This is a southern access point to the island.
The Chi-Cheemaun ferry offers a relaxing and enjoyable means of travelling to Manitoulin Island. It runs between Tobermory on the Bruce Penninsula and South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. The ferry ride is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. It runs 4 times a day during the busy season of June to September. The ferry runs 2 times a day in the shoulder season. Directions from the ferry dock at South Baymouth to Carter Bay are as follows:
* From South Baymouth, drive north on Hwy 6 to 10th Side Road
* Turn left on 10th Side Road and continue to Government Road
* Turn left on Government Road and continue to Carter Bay (approx. 10 km)

Manitoulin Island is serviced by two on-island airports: Private and commercial aircraft can use either the Manitoulin East Municipal Airport or the Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport. The Gore Bay-Manitoulin Airport is located on the north end of the island.
Directions from the airport to Carter Bay are as follows:
* Drive south on Hwy 542 to Providence Bay
* Turn left on Government Road
* Continue east on Government Road to Carter Bay (approx. 10 km)
